Looking to Start your Own Communist State? Have I Got the Car for You!
If you are looking to start your very own communist state or just want a new kid hauler for your wife, boy have I found the car for you! Unfortunately, logistics might be a little tough, as this beast is going under the hammer at the Rétromobile 2022 sale in Paris on March 18th.
What you see here is a 1967 Zavod Imeni Likhacheva 114, owned by a former President of the Mongolian People's Republic.
Not familiar with Zavod Imeni Likhacheva? Well, me either, until I ran across the auction listing. Evidently, Zavod Imeni Likhacheva (or ZIL for short) was a major Soviet Russia automobile, truck, military vehicle, and heavy equipment manufacturer that was based in Moscow.
As an official state car of Mother Russia, the ZIL-114 transported only members of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and other top leaders. As Mongolia shares a border with Russia, evidently the Mongolian President thought that this would be just the vehicle he needed to keep up with the Jones. Jonesekys? Joneslovs? Jonesyevs?
Anyway, like many products in the ol' USSR, the ZIL-114 styling looks to be cribbed straight from an American manufacturer. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely seeing hints of a contemporary Chrysler Imperial.
This beast is powered by a 7 liter V8 rated at 300hp mated to an automatic transmission that could make it to a whopping 74 mph! Good thing it's got 4 wheel disc brakes. And check out the interior! Is that leopard print carpet?
This baby can be yours for an estimated final price of between $45k and $68k!
